Step 1 - Career Assessment Tests

As you begin to explore where you would love to work, where your passions lie and the right path to get there, have you considered taking a career and/or personality assessment test? There are many out there, and they are very useful to understand what type of person you are, the environment that you would thrive in and in turn, what career you should pursue.

Some recommended tests are the following:

As you review these sites and lean into what you desire to pursue, you may want to dig even deeper into what this means for your future.

A Leadership Coach may be an investment you are willing to make at this time.

A Program that offers the most up to date training on what’s working now in career development, live hands on coaching, templates, scripts, clarity, mindset shifts, as well as the community of driven professionals you need to land your dream job.

Step 2 - Resume Tips and Tricks!

Resume templates are an evolving door, where things accepted years ago (i.e. References Upon Request, etc.) are changing on a regular basis.

As you review your own resume, be sure to consider the list below:

  • Remove your physical address, so that remote work is not limited to your home location

  • Remove dates of when you graduated, so that you do not allow an opportunity for ageism

  • Add your LinkedIn account profile link to your resume. That way, Recruiting and Hiring Managers can see your skill set highlighted on the #1 professional platform for hiring

  • Add a Professional or Executive Summary to showcase what you bring to the table

  • Ensure your bullet points are answering the question, why is this important? How is the bullet point relevant to the organizational goals - did it increase revenue, reduce redundancies, etc.

Tip: Some sites to search for jobs are the following - Indeed, LinkedIn, The Mom Project, Glassdoor and Monster.

Step 3 - Informational Interviews

Regardless of where you are in your career, informational interviews are by far, one of the most important thing you can do to improve career success.

They can help you to:

  • Connect with professionals, where you can ask the tough questions about the role, culture of the company and hierarchy structure

  • Get a clear understanding of what you want and what you do not desire in your potential dream job

  • Connect with people outside of your circle for greater visibility

  • Make new friends and grow your professional circle, as you build mutually beneficial relationships

It all comes down to the power of networking—when you connect with other people, anything is possible!
